Introduction

Welcome to The Construction Rep! I'm Charles R Skellen, a seasoned construction professional with nearly 20 years of experience in the industry. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles, including hands-on trades work, supervision, management, and owner representative. In addition to my experiences working for others, I have successfully launched several residential and commercial construction companies for myself as well as guided others in their ventures.

My goal here is to provide guidance and expert insight to professional tradesmen who have thought of going off on their own but haven't yet, or recently have and are struggling. In my experience in construction it is near daily that you will hear someone complain about how they do the work and the boss makes the money or sits at home, or similar. I hear many of the best builders I have worked with say that if they knew the business end like they knew the building end, they wouldn't work for someone else. 

I am here to help builders build their own company. I aim to provide the tools and motivation needed through various formats to best suite and guide construction workers to become the owner. Ownership isn't for everyone, but for those who want more control over their time, the type of work that they take on, their earning potential, how projects or problems are addressed, or those who just dream of owning their own company, I am here to help.
